District Commander system and ZNO module: changes/updates

I have made some changes to the standard rules of the District Commander system:

  • changes in the Ambush and Intimidate missions,
  • a new use for Intelligence Advantage chits, and
  • disrupting Militia units no longer deducts TP.

New standard rules, updated player aid files for the Maracas and Binh Dinh modules, and updated rules and player aid files for the Zone Nord Oranais module (Algeria 1959) with these and other changes are available for download at the Free Games page.

  1. Hey Brian, good stuff. Love how you continue to refine your systems.
Would these rule changes apply to Maracas also?

Thanks! I was a bit loth to make changes to the core rules kind of mid-stream, but I think these changes are for the better.
The changes to the core rules can and should be retrofitted to the Maracas and Binh Dinh modules too, of course.
I have made some changes to the scenario in ZNO as well, mostly lowering the number of initial forces on the board and adjusting initial TP allowances downwards.
I also added a new optional rule that allows the French elite troops to Ambush Insurgent regulars under the right conditions.
The “sandboxy” nature of this game system could and should inspire players to do the same for their plays of the modules, altering play options or adding and adapting new ones.
Though some people are still quite tied in to what the rules say, and nothing more.. so their mileage will vary.
